Commissioned by Chemonics International to provide technical, logistical, and institutional support to installing and running the LIF in Brazil. LIF is an environment finance facility financed by Cargill with the objective of protecting forests in the Amazon, Cerrado and Chaco biomes; to make the soya value chain deforestation and conversion free; to promote responsible production; and to benefit local producers and communities. Project Management Unit of the Low Carbon Agriculture to Avoid Deforestation and Alleviate Poverty in Brazil – Phase II "Sustainable Rural Project in the Caatinga (PRS Caatinga)
2017 https://prscaatinga.org.br/Commissioned by the Brazilian Foundation for Sustainable Development (FBDS) to structure and operate the project’s management unit. The project results from the international cooperation between the UK and Brazil (BR-T 1378), having AIDB as financial manager, the FBDS as project executing agency. Trama was also hired to develop a study on Mapping and Evaluating Rural Technical Assistance and Extension Services in the Caatinga. From Oct 2019 to Sep 2022.
Amapá in the Leadership of a New Climate Economy
2017Commissioned by IC Participações EIRELI/ i Bureau to write a sustainable and climate smart development strategy for the state of Amapá, Amazon region, Brazil, based on a theory of change, aimed at strengthening the state’s productive sectors and value chains associated with its vast and preserved natural resources. From July to Oct 2019.
Commissioned by Natura Cosméticos to prepare a document to subsidize the understanding the deforestation process in the Amazon, covering three different aspects: (i) the economic cycles of the region and their impacts on the forest; (ii) the institutions and the established methods for monitoring deforestation; and (iii) the environmental safeguards to combat deforestation in the Amazon. From January to March 2019.
Ecosystem of social and environmental funds in the state of Pará
2018Commissioned by Dialogue/UNDP to develop studies for the implementation of the ecosystem of the state’s funds, including: (i) the revision of the State’s Socioeconomic Policy Law (COPES); (ii) the writing of a proposal to create a Fund Ecosystem Management Unit; (iii) the definition of safeguards for the management of socio-environmental risks regarding the financial operations of the state's social and environmental fund system; and (iv) the development of a governance and institutional management model for Biotec Amazônia (BIOTEC). Proposal for Extending the Sustainable Rural Program to the Caatinga Biome
2018 (Port) https://prscaatinga.org.br/Commissioned by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB/BR) to develop preliminary studies to support the above proposal, which aim was the encouraging of small and medium-sized farmers to adopt low-carbon technologies and forest restoration in Brazil’s semiarid region, to combating climate change and poverty. Climate Technology Innovation Unit
2016Commissioned by the Brazilian Foundation for Sustainable Development (FBDS) to design a proposal and seek financial support to create a center of technological innovation for supporting the implementation of the mitigation and adaptation agendas of Brazil’s climate policy. From June 2016 to August 2017.
Best Management Practices in the Priority Infrastructure Sectors in the Amazon
2017Commissioned by Chemonics International to support to the company to identify and contact potential partnerships in Brazil for the preparation and presentation of a proposal to USAID, in response to the call for projects on the topic above, focusing on hydroelectric power, roads, oil, gas, and mining in the Amazon Basin, including Peru, Colombia and Brazil. July 2017 and January 2018.
Produce, Conserve and Include Strategy (PCI)
2017Commissioned by the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH/Netherlands) to provide technical support for the programmatic, institutional and financial construction of the PCI Strategy of the State of Mato Grosso, defining with the main stakeholders’ alternative ways to achieve the objectives and goals set by the Strategy. From January to August 2017.
Commissioned by the SOS Mata Atlântica (Atlantic Forest) to conduct an institutional review involving governance, mission, vision, strategy, enabling processes, strategic map, methodology for multiannual planning, goals, indicators, resource mobilization strategy and technical team training. From August 2015 to December 2016.
Caiman Ecological Refuge
2015Study and planning of the creation of the Mariangela and Roberto Klabin Institute (IMARK) in the Brazilian Pantanal, involving definition of governance, organizational structure, biodiversity conservation strategy and program, maintenance of the pantanal livestock culture, operation strategy in networks and partnerships, learning and collaboration, as well as strategy for mobilizing international resources. Environmental Compensation
2015Commissioned by Dialog/UN – Habitat Program to assist in the drafting of strategies for integrated territorial planning, with emphasis on economic and social development, from the use of resources available in payments for environmental compensation, mainly in the context of major infrastructure works. 2014Commissioned by Padma and the Critical Ecosystems Partnership Fund (CEPF) to carry a study: Study on global and current trends on the governance of non-governmental organizations and the impacts of their composition and operations on opportunities to raise financial resources internationally available. From October 2014 to March 2015.
Impact Analysis of the Puma Project
2012Commissioned by Klabin to investigate and mitigate the impact of the construction of a large-sized pulp mill on the three municipalities that constitute the project’s area of influence. The impact analysis involved the design of a relationship and integration strategy to be established between the company and the impacted municipalities, based on the use of common interest matrix methodology. Zero Net Deforestation in the Amazon
2012Commissioned by Greenpeace Brazil to coordinate a study and a debate with leaders of the national environmental civil society organizations on the possibility and the necessary conditions for practicing zero net deforestation in the Amazon. From March to July 2012.
Amazon Program
2010Commissioned by Natura Cosméticos to design and support the implementation of a corporate social responsibility program for the Amazon region, involving: the design and execution of a series of seminars and visits, aiming at introducing the company's board of directors to the history, social, cultural, environmental, and economical characteristics of the territory; the support to the development of a sustainable regional supply chain program; the support to the development of a research and development initiative on the region’s natural resources; and the support to the strengthening of region’s legal and institutional infrastructure.
